"OK, so this is your ... ehm ... studio?" "Yep." "And where´s the make up artist?" "We don´t need one. I´m taking natural style pictures." "And a wind machine?" "No." "Flash lights? A white backdrop?" "No." She fixated the floor for two seconds, then she flipped over and left the room. She looked so awesome... So tell me - should I buy a flash light right tomorrow???
When working with models (not often enough), I try and let them know ahead of time the types of photos I'll be taking. I also have a sketch or two of the poses I want. That seems to help. A big fabric reflector is cheap, and very useful. I attach mine to the light stands with gaffer's tape when indoors, and get an assistant when outside.
